Joesph O. Himbry Jr.

1941 – 2010

Joe Himbry, Jr., Bayboro town councilman and Mayor pro-tem since 1993 died at his home Wednesday, August 25, 2010 on his 69th birthday. He served as Executive Director of the Bayboro Development Center, Inc. and was actively involved with the STEP program and several other projects and committees impacting the town and county.

Town officials said Commissioner Himbry was a driving force within Bayboro and he will be greatly missed.

Himbry is survived by his wife Vennie of the home, sons Derek Himbry and Daniel Himbry of New Bern, daughters Josephine Himbry of Bayboro and Alysia Himbry of High Point, step daughter Letise Himbry of Merritt and step-sons Whitford Miller Jr and Tony Miller of New Bern, Keith Miller of Newark, New Jersey, Prince Miller of Fort Walters Beach, Florida.

His funeral service will be 12:00 PM, Saturday, September 4, 2010 at the New Bern Eastern Missionary Baptist Association Headquarters 885 Hwy. 306 N Grantsboro. The interment will be at the Green Hill M. B. Church Cemetery, Bayboro.

The family will receive friends at the residence and from 6:00 PM to 6:45 PM Friday, September 3, 2010 at Oscar's Mortuary. The Masonic and Eastern Star ritualistic services will follow at 7:00 PM by The Queen of the East No. 79, Eastern Star Chapter No. 76, Golden Crown No. 8, King Solomon Commander No. 6, Shadid Temple No. 233, Arabian Temple No. 42.
